Rhona Eve Clews is a working-class artist and filmmaker based in London, working across analogue film, expanded photography, performance, sound and writing.

Whether crawling on her belly across a field with a lo-fi lens, attempting to make a film the length of her mother’s garden, or persuading the Yellowstone webcam to make Old Faithful her favourite penpal, she takes herself and the audience on absurd, determined, light-sensitive quests in attempts to plug us back into wider ecologies. She calls it research.

Her practice combines autobiography, humour, ecofeminism and embodied research, treating analogue film and emulsion as companion bodies with their own sensitivities and ways of registering the world.

From an initial background in Psychology to an MFA with Distinction from the Slade School of Fine Art, Rhona has followed a non-linear route into art and filmmaking.

Her work has been screened and exhibited internationally, including at LUX, The Film-makers’ Cooperaative (NYC), the Courtauld, Café Oto, Black Mountain College Museum & Arts Center, Process Experimental Film Festival (Riga) and the Multispecies Lab (NYC).

She is developing The New Somatic Photographic (NSP), an ecofeminist framework approaching image-making as embodied listening and co-authored, more-than-human exchange.

Her recent 16mm/Super 8 film Cosmic Goo: A Short Film About Ectoplasm (2026) was co-produced by Video Power (Netherlands) and supported by Elisabeth Strouven Fonds, Gemeente Maastricht.
